Hello Everyone!

Here is some great information I thought I would share with you regarding healthy foods.

Eight Ground Rules to Find Healthy, Sustainable Food

It’s easy to become discouraged with the entire business of organics, and begin to fret about ever being able to get your hands on truly healthy food. But remember, the ground rules for healthy food shopping have never changed, only the labels have.

So whatever food you’re looking to buy, whether imported organic or locally grown, from either your local supermarket or a farmer’s market, here are the signs of a high-quality, healthy food:

It’s grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers (organic foods fit this description, but so do some non-organic foods)

It’s not genetically modified

It contains no added growth hormones, antibiotics, or other drugs

It does not contain artificial anything, nor any preservatives

It is fresh (if you have to choose between wilted organic produce or fresh conventional produce, the latter may be the better option)

It did not come from a factory farm

It is grown with the laws of nature in mind (meaning animals are fed their native diets, not a mix of grains and animal byproducts, and have free-range access to the outdoors)

It is grown in a sustainable way (using minimal amounts of water, protecting the soil from burnout, and turning animal wastes into natural fertilizers instead of environmental pollutants. Also, this means it was not transported thousands of miles to be on your table if a local source is available.)

If the food meets these criteria, it is likely a good choice. The bottom line is that you need to look deeper than a label when it comes to your food. Most often, the best place to find these foods are from a sustainable agricultural group in your area.

And of course drink lots of Kangen Water to deliver the nutrients in these healthy foods to your cells for optimum health!

Hi All,

Here is some interesting information on the subject of bottled water.

The Bottled Water Myth

Drinking bottled water offers a slight improvement over junk fluids such as sport drinks and soda's however .. in these challenging economic times, it makes more sense to find a more cost effective and environmentally sustainable option than bottled water. For

Here's why...
Up to 40% of bottled water is actually just bottled tap water that may or may not receive additional treatment and filtering.

Bottled water can contain chlorine and fluoride -these are unhealthy and should not be in your drinking water.

A 4-year study released by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) found 1/3 of the water bottles tested contained synthetic organic chemicals and bacteria.

The typical plastic used for bottled water is polyethylene terephthalate (PET) - this material potentially leaches antimony and other toxic chemicals into your water.

Landfills polluted with discarded plastic bottles further contribute to the deterioration of your environment.

Buying bottled water is expensive - it's estimated that a $1.50 bottle of water costs just $0.22, leaving $1.28 per bottle in profits.

There's a huge strain placed on your environment to produce and distribute bottled water around the world - an estimated 50 billion plastic bottles are produced each year. Every hour Americans throw away 2.5 million plastic bottles!

Regulation of bottled water is another concern.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates public water supplies, but has no authority over bottled water.
For example, there are not any specific requirements regarding proximity of bottled water sources to industrial facilities or waste dumps. And there's no official procedure in place for shutting down bottled water sources if they become contaminated.
Now you know the reasons why I don't recommend bottled water - there are just too many potential risks and unknown consequences to your health.

If you're concerned about how to carry your water with you, there are safe alternatives to the typical PET plastic bottles and potentially risky water inside. You clearly want to avoid PVC plastic containers. These are typically milky white and the type that most milk used to come in years ago. They leave a clear and obvious odor to the water because they leach loads of toxic plasticizers in the water.

You can use safe plastics which aren't known to leach harmful substances:
The best is Polypropylene, designated "#7 PP"
You can get these locally at the following address:
Water System & Supplies (WSS) - 12802 Knott Street, Garden Grove, CA 92841

Thank you for thinking of the health of your family and our planet!
